The Healing Power of Garlic // Recipe

Pharmaceutical anti-biotics can weaken your immune system, as well as destroying good gut bacteria, leaving you open and susceptible to an overgrowth of yeast. (candida).

This is why it’s important to eat foods that will keep you strong and healthy. Garlic is one such food. It’s a supperfood, a natural anti-biotic, which can help cleanse the body from the harmful effects of bacteria, fungi and yeasts.

Enhance the flavour of your cooking with this wonderful aromatic vegetable. Pop some in amongst your roasted veggies, use them in your: soups, stews, casseroles, pasta sauces, vinaigrette dressings, and so on, or be brave and eat them raw.

I often make this dish as it’s quick, simple and tasty.

Green beans and garlic

  1. Steam and drain your fresh green beans.
  2. Then in a frying pan, add a tablespoon of olive oil and a crushed garlic.
  3. Add the beans to the frying pan and toss gently for a few minutes so that they take on the flavour of the garlic.
  4. Sprinkle with a little sea salt and serve with whatever you wish..

Bovine Colostrum Repaired My Gut

I chose to take ‘Immune-Tree Colostrum 6‘ when in 2014 I had taken some strong antibiotics for what seemed to be a bladder infection, but turned out to be interstitial cystitis.

Soon after taking the antibiotics my health quickly deteriorated. My good gut bacteria (specifically lactobacillus) was completely wiped out, leaving me with intestinal thrush, which then led to Irritable Bowel Syndrome, rapid weight loss, and panic attacks.

Desperately praying, studying my Bible, and searching online for some kind of help, I came across Bovine Colostrum. I took it for about a year, but to my surprise, within only 3 to 4 weeks my IBS had stopped, making everything else that was wrong with me much easier to cope with.

So, if any of you are suffering with any type of gastrointestinal problem, such as Ulcerative colitis, Coeliac disease, IBS, etc., please consider taking Bovine Colostrum, as it’s known for repairing the gut lining and strengthening the immune system.

Coping with and eliminating Candida for good

When I was suffering with severe Candida (an overgrowth of yeast), keeping my sugars low was not enough to eliminate it. I had tried that approach before, for about a year, and believe me it just did not work!

In my desperation, I had also tried many different types of natural anti-fungals, such as; Grape fruit seed extract, Olive leaf extract and Caprylic Acid, but to no avail. They all seemed to help me while I was taking them, but as soon as I stopped, my Candida levels would rise, and get out of control again.

So with some research, help and advice, I began a very strict diet of NO wheat, dairy, and sugar (including fruit), and of course, NO yeast containing products for about 16 weeks. It was very hard, but I was determined not to ‘cheat’.

I was now on a mission to clear my cupboards from all those ‘forbidden’ ingredients. I also raided the fridge; throwing away all my jams, marmalades, sauces, and pickles. All those foods were feeding my Candida, and I’d just about had enough!

The first two weeks were challenging. I remember feeling overwhelmed while shopping for food, and wondering what on earth was I going to eat? Every box, packet, can or jar of food seemed to contain one or more of the ingredients that I was NOT to have. But I slowly got the hang of it and replaced my fridge with fresh natural produce, and my kitchen cupboards with minimally processed foods (e.g. natural greek yoghurt, bagged spinach, and tinned tomatoes etc)

I was brought up on a healthy Mediterranean diet, but somehow over the years, I started falling into an easy ‘pre-packaged, processed-kind’ of diet that was slowly playing havoc with my health. Although systemic candida was distressing and unpleasant, it taught me to get back to eating natural God-given foods. The foods that heal and sustain you.

So, from now on, it’s got to be as natural as possible for me (and also for you, I hope).
