What’s missing from your diet?

Whenever you make a salad, (and hopefully that’s everyday) try using a variety of different coloured vegetables, as they not only look great together, but also contain different phytochemicals, which helps protect our cells from damage and disease.

As you can see from this picture, I made a salad consisting of:

Cucumber – The natural diuretic effect of cucumbers helps flush and cleanse the kidneys and bladder.

Spinach – The high fibre and cleansing effect of spinach, aids the digestive system by keeping things moving.

Red Peppers – Are high in Vitamin C and antioxidants, which helps to reduce the risk of infections.

Avocados – The healthy monounsaturated fats and polyunsaturated fats that they contain, promote a heathy heart.

Avocado oil – Rich and smooth, tastes great and has many health benefits.

Cherry Tomatoes – Are high in Lycopene, an antioxidant, which helps reduce the risk of cancer, heart disease, diabetes and sunburn.

Feta Cheese – Is lower in fat than most other cheeses and contains beneficial bacteria.

Yummy Breakfast Smoothie

Sometimes all you need for breakfast is a wonderful fruit smoothie, rich in vitamins, minerals and antioxidants to help give you a great start to the day. I used some strawberries, blueberries and a banana, topped with coconut milk and blitzed in the blender, and it was yummy!

  • Blueberries are great for your heart
  • Strawberries can help aid in weight loss
  • Bananas can help reduce high blood pressure

It’s a quick and easy way of getting fruit into your diet, instead of leaving it to rot in your fruit bowl.

Rosacea: Why you may have it

Are you desperately trying to figure out why and how Rosacea has slowly but surely taken over your life? Not being able to walk outside and enjoy the sun on your face, or go for a brisk walk on a cold winters day, without the fear of your face becoming sore and inflamed. Well let’s take a good look at what may be causing this facial skin condition, and see if we can stop the progression, reduce inflammation, and allow for healing to take place,

Write these questions down and answer them honestly:

  • Are you constantly worrying about everything and anything?
  • Are you angry all the time?
  • Are you harbouring resentment?
  • Are you using harsh chemicals to cleanse your face with, which then leaves your skin feeling tight, stinging, or tingling?
  • Do you have an underlying gut issue, e.g Coeliac disease or have a gluten sensitivity, which you are not aware of?
  • Does your diet contain a lot of acidic foods such as: tomatoes, fried, spicy, and processed foods etc. Or caffeinated tea, and coffee, alcohol, and sugary drinks?

All of these negative factors can contribute to developing Rosacea. So if you have answered these questions with an open heart, you’ll be able to see what positive changes you need to make, in order to start your healing process.

Back in 2003, my Rosacea was extremely painful and classed as moderate to severe. My husband took me to a dermatologist in London, who advised me to have about 4 to 5 laser treatments (intense pulsed light) within the space of a year, to help reduce the redness (broken capillaries) and sensitivity. She then went on to say that Rosacea is a progressive skin disorder and that it would be best to have the treatment done once a year in order to keep it under control, i.e. that there is no cure.

But over the years, whilst studying everything and anything to do with health and well-being, I began looking deeper into what I was putting into my body, and onto my face. I changed my diet to a more plant-based (alkaline) one, practiced relaxation techniques, and moisturised my skin with the appropriate creams and lotions suitable for the winter winds or summer sun, and Praise God, I found that my rosacea completely disappeared!

So to sum it up:

Depending on how severe your Rosacea is, you may need to have a few laser treatments done to reduce the redness. BUT, it’s imperative that you change to a healthy lifestyle, so that you can completely heal and prevent it from re-occurring.

The Healing Power of Garlic // Recipe

Pharmaceutical anti-biotics can weaken your immune system, as well as destroying good gut bacteria, leaving you open and susceptible to an overgrowth of yeast. (candida).

This is why it’s important to eat foods that will keep you strong and healthy. Garlic is one such food. It’s a supperfood, a natural anti-biotic, which can help cleanse the body from the harmful effects of bacteria, fungi and yeasts.

Enhance the flavour of your cooking with this wonderful aromatic vegetable. Pop some in amongst your roasted veggies, use them in your: soups, stews, casseroles, pasta sauces, vinaigrette dressings, and so on, or be brave and eat them raw.

I often make this dish as it’s quick, simple and tasty.

Green beans and garlic

  1. Steam and drain your fresh green beans.
  2. Then in a frying pan, add a tablespoon of olive oil and a crushed garlic.
  3. Add the beans to the frying pan and toss gently for a few minutes so that they take on the flavour of the garlic.
  4. Sprinkle with a little sea salt and serve with whatever you wish..

Bovine Colostrum Repaired My Gut

I chose to take ‘Immune-Tree Colostrum 6‘ when in 2014 I had taken some strong antibiotics for what seemed to be a bladder infection, but turned out to be interstitial cystitis…a chronic bladder disease, due to a weak immune system.

Soon after taking the antibiotics my health quickly deteriorated. My good gut bacteria (specifically lactobacillus) was completely wiped out, which then allowed candida to take hold, and thrive throughout my body. This caused loose stools, rapid weight loss, and anxiety,

25 top tips for healing from Interstitial Cystitis

I spent many nights, glued to my iPad watching all the YouTube videos that I could on Interstitial Cystitis, hoping that I’d find a cure for this terrible, debilitating bladder disease.

The constant feeling of not being able to get rid of what seemed to be a full-blown bladder infection, accompanied by excruciating pelvic spasms used to drive me crazy! I just couldn’t function properly; simple daily tasks became so difficult. I felt as though I spent most of my time on the toilet. I used to stuff a hot water bottle inside my jeans, against my pelvic area just to ease the pain, while cooking, doing my house work. watching a film, it was terrible!

Even though I had been told by three different doctors that there was no cure for IC and to take pain killers all my life, I just couldn’t and wouldn’t accept it. I believed in my heart, that this awful disease could be reversed and that my body WAS capable of healing, given the right fuel.

So, I began putting my faith into practice, and looked to God as my physician (Luke 8:43 – 44).

While reading and studying the foods in the Bible, I realized just how far from healthy we had all become. Many years ago people were far more physically active than we are today. They only ate fresh, organic, whole foods. They tilled the land, grew their own crops, made their own cheeses and ate fresh ripe fruits straight from the trees. Time was taken to prepare wonderfully nutritious meals. And then, they would spend the rest of the evening eating together as a family, enjoying one anothers company.

But nowadays, we do the complete opposite. We have so many distractions, we don’t have time to think, we’re always under pressure, and we’re always feeling under the weather. Many of the foods we eat are highly processed. We drive everywhere, even to the corner shop. We spend far too many hours infront of a computer screen and then end the day slummped on a sofa for hours in front of a television screen. So as you can see this is a recipe for disaster.

So I decided to take control, make some positive changes, and today I’m feeling so much better!

Don’t believe anyone that says there is no cure for IC. There is always a way to heal your body. Everyone is different and what works for one may not work for another. Your health really does depend on how you look after yourself mentally, physically, and spiritually. DON’T take your health for granted; keep your IMMUNE SYSTEM STRONG, by eating real foods and doing some form of exercise, and it will be better able to protect you from most western inflammatory diseases.

Here are some of my top tips for healing:

What To START Doing

  1. Drink plenty of water, herbal teas- dandelion, camomile, nettle, turmeric, and moringa (which I found the most helpful and alkalising).
  2. Make nourishing soups, stews, and broths without tinned tomatoes.
  3. Drink fresh home-made vegetable juice (my favourite and simple one) 1 large cucumber with 1 green apple a day.
  4. Eat lots of green leafy vegetables.
  5. Eat lots of salads.
  6. Eat non-acidic fruits such as blue berries, pears and watermelon.
  7. Eat organic natural Greek yoghurt (probiotics).
  8. Learn a relaxation technique.
  9. Breath properly from the gut, this helps relieve tension in your pelvic floor muscles.
  10. Try and get out of the house, take a walk in the park, meet a friend for lunch and just know that you won’t feel like this forever.
  11. Gently, do some pelvic floor exercises.
  12. Take “Waterfall D-mannose” to protect the bladder from infections.
  13. Take a good quality Turmeric supplement to reduce bladder inflammation.
  14. Keep your sugar intake low.
  15. It is very important that you get tested for Coeliac disease and Candida (yeast infection).
  16. If suffering from; IBS, Crohns, Ulcerative Colitis, etc., take Bovine Colostrum to help support the immune system and help seal and heal the gut.

What To STOP Doing

  1. Smoking.
  2. Drinking alcohol.
  3. Drinking coffee and tea (they are stimulants which will irritate the bladder).
  4. Using tinned tomatoes (to acidic).
  5. Using any type of vinegar.
  6. Eating processed foods (sausages, bacon, white bread, etc).
  7. Eating anything that contains yeast.
  8. Eating cakes, biscuits, sweets etc.
  9. Holding on to negative emotions (stress, worry and guilt), as they will prevent you from healing.

Gut health, ‘Prevention is better than cure’!

When I was a child, many of the doctors (and some even to this day) did not know or understand the importance of good gut health, and how it affects the health of the entire body. And as a result, many people were prescribed medication for their symptoms, without looking deeper into where, why and what was causing the problems in the first place. We now know that most diseases begin in the gut, when the gut microbiome is off balance. This can happen for many reasons: from eating a lot of processed foods, drinking a lot of alcohol, smoking, antibiotics, medication, and depression etc.

I believe that my many annoying health problems (which I had over the years): IBS, Duodenal ulcer, Rosacea, Ovarian cysts, Endometriosis, Intestinal thrush (candida), and Interstitial cystitis, were all connected and due to having leaky gut syndrome… Ceoliac disease, which I did not know I had until 2015. I often wonder, if only I knew this years ago it would have spaired me alot of pain and disstress.

But then again, if I hadn’t gone through it all, I probablly wouldn’t have been so determined and focused on studying natural ways in which to heal my body. I am proof that there is always a way to heal, and I’m so passionate for people to know that they can also take control and lead happier, heathier lives. Because the saying is true ‘prevention is always better than cure’.

So please listen to your body, if you have health problems that just won’t clear up, then look at the health of your GUT, eat a whole foods diet, do some form of exercise, learn to relax, forgive and let go of negative emotions, and have some fun!

Moringa Oleifera

My health problems in the past have led me to become a nutritional researcher, always on the look out for natural, God-given foods, which help protect and nourish our bodies, keeping us from sickness and disease.

So when I came across Moringa Oleifera, which is also known as “The Miracle Tree”, I was truly blessed!

This gift from God is native to northern India, and also grows well in tropical countries, but with a little care and attention it can also be grown over here in the UK.

Every part of this precious tree is used, and absolutely nothing is wasted. The bark, leaf, and seeds are highly nutritious, and can be used in soups, stews, smoothies, juices, and whatever else you can think of.

Moringa is a great food supplement to take as it contains over 90 nutrients, and works in the body as an adaptogen. Being highly alkaline, it helps rid the body from chronic inflammation, and helps to heal all manner of diseases, such as; diabetes, high blood pressure, heart disease, infections, Interstitial cyctitis, digestive problems, and many, many others.

I couldn’t wait to try it for myself, so I went down to my favourite health food shop, and bought a small pot of “Aduna Moringa Green Superleaf Powder”, which contains the vitamins A, E and K and also Calcium, Iron and Protein.

I take it as a tea, just under a quarter of a tea spoon in a mug of hot boiled water. It tastes very much like drinking spinach water. But once my taste buds got used to it, I began to find it very calming and refreshing.

Just remember, you DON’T, have to live in pain, there is always a way to improve your health and wellbeing, so why not try this for yourself.
