25 top tips for healing from Interstitial Cystitis

I spent many nights, glued to my iPad watching all the YouTube videos that I could on Interstitial Cystitis, hoping that I’d find a cure for this terrible, debilitating bladder disease.

The constant feeling of not being able to get rid of what seemed to be a full-blown bladder infection, accompanied by excruciating pelvic spasms used to drive me crazy! I just couldn’t function properly; simple daily tasks became so difficult. I felt as though I spent most of my time on the toilet. I used to stuff a hot water bottle inside my jeans, against my pelvic area just to ease the pain, while cooking, doing my house work. watching a film, it was terrible!

Even though I had been told by three different doctors that there was no cure for IC and to take pain killers all my life, I just couldn’t and wouldn’t accept it. I believed in my heart, that this awful disease could be reversed and that my body WAS capable of healing, given the right fuel.

So, I began putting my faith into practice, and looked to God as my physician (Luke 8:43 – 44).

While reading and studying the foods in the Bible, I realized just how far from healthy we had all become. Many years ago people were far more physically active than we are today. They only ate fresh, organic, whole foods. They tilled the land, grew their own crops, made their own cheeses and ate fresh ripe fruits straight from the trees. Time was taken to prepare wonderfully nutritious meals. And then, they would spend the rest of the evening eating together as a family, enjoying one anothers company.

But nowadays, we do the complete opposite. We have so many distractions, we don’t have time to think, we’re always under pressure, and we’re always feeling under the weather. Many of the foods we eat are highly processed. We drive everywhere, even to the corner shop. We spend far too many hours infront of a computer screen and then end the day slummped on a sofa for hours in front of a television screen. So as you can see this is a recipe for disaster.

So I decided to take control, make some positive changes, and today I’m feeling so much better!

Don’t believe anyone that says there is no cure for IC. There is always a way to heal your body. Everyone is different and what works for one may not work for another. Your health really does depend on how you look after yourself mentally, physically, and spiritually. DON’T take your health for granted; keep your IMMUNE SYSTEM STRONG, by eating real foods and doing some form of exercise, and it will be better able to protect you from most western inflammatory diseases.

Here are some of my top tips for healing:

What To START Doing

  1. Drink plenty of water, herbal teas- dandelion, camomile, nettle, turmeric, and moringa (which I found the most helpful and alkalising).
  2. Make nourishing soups, stews, and broths without tinned tomatoes.
  3. Drink fresh home-made vegetable juice (my favourite and simple one) 1 large cucumber with 1 green apple a day.
  4. Eat lots of green leafy vegetables.
  5. Eat lots of salads.
  6. Eat non-acidic fruits such as blue berries, pears and watermelon.
  7. Eat organic natural Greek yoghurt (probiotics).
  8. Learn a relaxation technique.
  9. Breath properly from the gut, this helps relieve tension in your pelvic floor muscles.
  10. Try and get out of the house, take a walk in the park, meet a friend for lunch and just know that you won’t feel like this forever.
  11. Gently, do some pelvic floor exercises.
  12. Take “Waterfall D-mannose” to protect the bladder from infections.
  13. Take a good quality Turmeric supplement to reduce bladder inflammation.
  14. Keep your sugar intake low.
  15. It is very important that you get tested for Coeliac disease and Candida (yeast infection).
  16. If suffering from; IBS, Crohns, Ulcerative Colitis, etc., take Bovine Colostrum to help support the immune system and help seal and heal the gut.

What To STOP Doing

  1. Smoking.
  2. Drinking alcohol.
  3. Drinking coffee and tea (they are stimulants which will irritate the bladder).
  4. Using tinned tomatoes (to acidic).
  5. Using any type of vinegar.
  6. Eating processed foods (sausages, bacon, white bread, etc).
  7. Eating anything that contains yeast.
  8. Eating cakes, biscuits, sweets etc.
  9. Holding on to negative emotions (stress, worry and guilt), as they will prevent you from healing.

Just have to write this…

I’m moved with compassion to write this to you, it may seem blunt, but it’s all SO true.

People need to wake up and realise that we are slowly being poisoned. Some of the foods that we eat, the water that we drink, and the air that we breath IS NOT the same as it used to be many years ago.

Adults, and now even children, are suffering from inflammatory diseases and depression. What’s the world coming to? Children should be playing outside in the sunshine, not stuck behind a computer for hours, where their eyesight and posture is suffering.

So what can we do about it? Well, we can do plenty! Start taking control and be responsible for your own health; don’t wait until there’s something wrong with you. Remember the saying “prevention is better than cure.” TEACH your children the truth about how sugary drinks, fast foods, smoking, drugs, and being physically inactive can affect their mind and body. Don’t just leave it up to the schools to teach them, because they don’t always teach the right things. YOU physically brought them into the world, YOU love and care for them so YOU CAN give them a good start in life.

I can’t bare the thought of anyone being in pain! There is so much information available to us. So please don’t waste time. Make some positive changes TODAY, and start feeling the benefits!

Wishing you a healthy and happy life,

Many blessings,

Piera 🌸

Am I therefore become your enemy, because I tell you the truth? – Galatians 4:16

And ye shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free. – John 8:3

Are you a coeliac?

Do you feel bloated all the time? or are you suffering from any type of digestive problem? Such as Irritable bowel syndrome, Ulcerative colitis, Crohn’s disease constipation, loose stools etc. Then why not give your digestive system a break from eating foods containing GLUTEN. For you may be gluten intolerant.

Unfortunately, for many of us, wheat, rye, barley, spelt and for some people oats, have become terribly indigestible. These grains have been genetically modified (which I think is absolutely ludicrous) to the point where the body does not recognize them as being real foods anymore. As the digestive system struggles to break down these frankinstein foods, in order to absorb the nutrients, the immune system begins to suffer and eventually becomes compromised. Therefore allowing a whole host of other health problems to arise.

So why not try and replace those troublesome grains with some highly nutritious ones such as: brown rice, quinoa, polenta (corn), amaranth, sourghum, millet, oats and teff. Be creative, and have fun trying these new flavours and textures in your recipes. Once you start to regain your energy and feel great again, you won’t want to go back to your previous eating habits.

Coeliac disease (gluten intolerance), or gluten sensitivity can affect any part of the body. So please do not ignore persistent signs and symptoms of: headaches, fatigue, skin rash, bloating, over active bladder etc. Get an allergy test done, or as I said before just take a break from eating these foods for at least two to three weeks to see how you feel.

The Bible says in Exodus 29:2 –

“And unleavened bread, and cakes unleavened tempered with oil, and wafers unleavened anointed with oil: of wheaten flour shalt thou make them.”

God created these wonderful foods to help nourish and sustain us, but yet again “we” have tampered and destroyed them for no good reason. Will we ever learn? 🧐

Eggs for breakfast anyone?

Stay away from all those sugary cereals, which can cause your blood sugar levels to rise and leave you feeling hungry again an hour later. Why not eat a couple of eggs instead. Eggs are wonderfully nutritious, low in fat, and will not affect your blood sugar levels like most cereals do.

Organic eggs are a natural God given food and will not raise your cholesterol levels either, as you may have been lead to believe. They contain many health benefits, which are far better for you than any man made food. So throw away those sugar laden boxes of cereal and enjoy a hearty egg breakfast instead.

Try them poached, boiled, as an omlette or scrambled and if you fancy a fried one just go easy on the oil. 🍳

I love eating eggs for breakfast, so please let me know how you like your eggs and I will give it a go.

Easy baked courgettes

These courgettes taste wonderful in a baguette.

How to make:

Make a plain tomato and basil pasta sauce.

Slice about 3 courgettes.

Brush a griddle pan with a touch of oil and fry the slices of courgettes until soft enough to put a fork through them.

Spread a little of the tomato sause into a small oven dish and place cougette slices on top, sprinkle some parmesan cheese over the top and slices of mozzarella (as you would a lasagna) and bake for about 20 to 30 minutes Gas mark 6 or 200c 😋

Breakfast – red grapes and natural yoghurt

I don’t know about you, but sometimes mornings can be hectic in my household. With two girls often squabbling over who’s going to use the bathroom first, breakfast needs to be quick and simple.

So as long as I have plenty of fruit and natural yogurt in my fridge, I can breathe a sigh of relief. As this breakfast is delicious and only takes a few minutes to prepare.

What you will need: This serves 1

  • A handful of sliced red grapes
  • 3 Table spoons of organic natural yoghurt
  • 2 Table spoons of nutty granola
  • 1 Teaspoon of honey

Place yoghurt, grapes and granola into a bowl and then drizzle over the honey and enjoy!

Red grapes are incredibly good for you and along with a healthy diet can help prevent many health problems such as macular degeneration, reduces hypertention, prevents colon and prostate cancer and many more chronic diseases.

The Bible says in Numbers 23-24:

“And they came unto the brook of Eshcol, and cut down from thence a branch with one cluster of grapes, and they bare it between two upon a staff; and they brought of the pomegranates, and of the figs.”

The place was called the brook Eshcol, because of the cluster of grapes which the children of Israel cut down from thence.”

So go ahead, next time you’re out food shopping grab some grapes! 🍇
